MAYFLOWER SHALLOP
The Shallop Planning Group is bringing the Mayflower Shallop to tour the Southcoast and the Islands in mid August 2026. The tour will include five towns along the Massachusetts coast, including Westport Point, as well as a tour at the MA Maritime Academy in Bourne. The tour will commemorate the 1620 Mayflower and the running of blockades by Captain Paul Cuffe between Olde Dartmouth and Nantucket to supply the islands with needed goods and food.

We will be celebrating Westport's own Captain Paul Cuffe who was a teenage Blockade Runner in his small Shallop in the Revolutionary War and who went on to fame and fortune.
The Mayflower II Fuller Shallop - under the Mayflower II Captain, Whit Perry - will enter the Westport River on Friday afternoon, August 14th, accompanied by a flotilla of boats. Time to be determined.
The Shallop will be docked at the Paquachuck Inn at Westport Point.The Shallop will be accompanied by the WILLIAM UNDERWOOD, a beautifully restored 1941 Sardine Boat.
Visitors will be able to inspect the Shallop and chat with her captain and crew. There will be no tours.
Parking will be available at 1839 Main Road and vans will transport visitors to and from the Point.
All events will occur on Westport Point at the Paquachuck Inn on Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16, from 11 am to 3 pm.
During the two days there will be interesting activities and information at the Point including:
Captain Whit Perry and his crew will talk about the Mayflower, the Shallop, and the early 1700s. They will be in period costume and will answer questions.
Wainer Woods and the Wampanoags with Chief 2Running Elk. Drumming will be done.
Westport Historical Society. Revolutionary Wartime in Westport.
Massachusetts Maritime Academy's Captain Paul Cuffe Global Institute.
Native American jewelry will be shown.
Children's activities will be provided.
Memorabilia including a Blockade Runner Hat can be purchased.
A brochure and other information about Captain Paul Cuffe will be available free of charge.
Each day there will be a panel that will discuss and answer questions about Captain Paul Cuffe. The actor portraying Paul Cuffe in the film CUFFE:TAXED will be present. We are also supporting the premiere of the film by Anita Allison at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on August 13 at 5 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Whaling Museum closer to the event.
